What Is Special About Autumn (Fall)?
I love autumn, it’s my favourite season.
I am very blessed to live in England in a house that is opposite a huge wooded area. The view is beautiful and the leaves are now slowly changing colours to various shades of orange, red and yellow. Most of the trees are still green, but here and there are flashes of colours that hint at the beauty to come.
Autumn is special to me for many reasons. I always think of the new school year as being a fresh start. Although I am no longer studying, I spent eight years at university and old habits die hard! The idea of a new start and new stationary always gets me excited and I have to buy new pens and notebooks in September.
Autumn is also the time that the weather begins to change to being a bit cooler and the nights start to get a bit darker. This makes me want to eat warming, comforting food, light candles, take hot baths and watch films under a blanket. All these are really comforting and make me happy. I enjoy being outside in the summer, but I love being snuggled up indoors in the winter.
Another thing I like about Autumn is that you can legitimately start talking and thinking about Christmas (which I do every day of the year!) but it is still far enough away to not be panicking about it yet! Leisurely browsing Christmas catalogues in October is fun, manically reading through them in December searching for a gift for a relative you forgot is noit quite as fun. Not that I would ever do that, obviously 😉
Recently there seems to have been a bit of a craze for the Danish art of Hygge (pronounced HooGa). I have been reading different books on the subject as Hygge appeals to the part of me that likes candles, blankets and snuggling. Hygge is about creating a sense of happiness and joy in your home or enviroment that makes you feel happy and at home.
This is the book that I have been reading –
This is a beautiful book that gives you an overview of the idea of Hygge and what it is meant to be about. This is something I am very new to but already falling in love with and I’m wondering if you are the same.
So what do you love most about autumn? Have you got caught up in the hygge craze and if so, what works for you. Please leave me a comment to let me know x
