Day Seventeen – Tip Seventeen –
Start With Breakfast
(Trim Healthy Mama For Beginners)

Yesterday we created our first meal plan – today we are starting on plan! We’re going to take small steps to get there to make sure we do it right, but here we go 😀

The easiest meal to start with is breakfast. There are lots of ideas for breakfast meals in the books and on the Facebook groups and you can make breakfast as easy or as complicated as you like. Have a look at your breakfast ideas on your meal plan, what things do you like the most?

We keep breakfast very simple in our house. We like porridge for breakfast for an ‘E’ meal with fruit or just sweetener and cinnamon. For an ‘S’ meal we love boiled eggs or scrambled eggs. On a weekend, when there is more time, I like to make a breakfast omelette with cheese ( ‘S’)  or fry bacon, eggs, mushrooms and other veggies in a pan for a big, filling, fry-up (‘S’)

Starting your day with a Trim Healthy Mama breakfast will help in lots of ways. Firstly, you will be starting the day with a meal that will fill you up and yet keep your blood sugars stable during the morning. Not having a blood sugar rush or crash is really helpful for keeping mood steady, energy levels up, reducing tiredness and avoiding health issues. It also means your body will get going with fat burning first thing in the day and that has to be a good thing!

Another advantage of starting with breakfasts is that being on plan when you start the day is more likely to make you want to be on plan the rest of the day. Knowing you’ve started well and feeling good from the healthy food you’ve eaten, gives you a boost that you don’t want to break. You’re then more likely to make healthy food choices the rest of the day. If you started with your evening meal then you are more likely to eat off plan all day thinking the evening will redeem you – and it won’t.

So start with breakfast tomorrow. We will add in the other meals and snacks over the coming days, but for now, concentrate on getting breakfast right. Each step we take is another step closer to being fully on plan and succeeding in our healthy journeys – we don’t need to rush. Better to get it right and take a little longer, than to get it wrong and give up.
